Laurence Burgorgue-Larsen, PhD

She has been a member of the Constitutional Court of Andorra since January 2012, served as President of the Court between 2014 and 2016, and she is currently a member of the International Commission of Jurists. Professor Burgorgue-Larsen is a Professor of Law at the Sorbonne Law School (Université de Paris 1). She is the director of the “Cahiers européens” series at the French publisher Pedone and a member of the editorial board of several law journals. Her research and teaching focus on Human Rights Law, Comparative Constitutional Law, and European and International Law. Her numerous publications have appeared in three languages, mainly addressing aspects of regional human rights. She is the author, among other works, of La Convention européenne des droits de l’homme (Paris, Lextenso, 2024, 4th ed.); El diálogo judicial. Máximo desafío de los tiempos jurídicos modernos, Mexico City, Porrúa, 2013, 315 pp. (Mexican Institute of Constitutional Procedural Law Series); and The 3 Regional Human Rights Courts in Context. Justice that Cannot Be Taken for Granted (OUP, 2024). The latter book received the award for Best Book of 2024 from the American Branch of the International Law Association (ABILA). She has been invited to teach at numerous universities in Europe, Africa, and several countries in Latin America.
